"The Anti-Minimalist Trail Running Shoes"

Maximalist
Yikes.

  1. It looks like the Hummer of the running world. I wonder how many rubber trees were sacrificed for this beast?

An interesting side to this is in a few years looking back between both camps (Maximalist vs. Minimalist/Barefoot) and see which one has the most injuries.

  2. That is a real shame, I had a pair of Montrail Masais a few years back, and though they are not minimalist they were not the hummers that Montrail has been pumping out since then. I really hoped that Montrail would make a solid minimalist shoe, keep hoping.

  4. Just an FYI, the Badrock comes in at a 21/11mm drop and 11.5 ounces, same as the Rockridge that's been out for the past year and only 3 mm different than the Rogue Racers(8.5 oz) that you posted about a few days ago. This is FAR from "Maximalist" when compared to many styles out there.

All of the current/new Montrail styles come in lower profile and lighter weight than any of the pre 2009 styles. I encourage you to see them in person before deciding they're "hummers".

  5. Steve, thanks for commenting. As I said in my previous post, I'm real partial to Montrails, and happy to see they're going in the right direction. But they're a long way from producing a barefoot-style shoe at the moment. I'm an eager customer for the day they do, though.
