Wheat and The China Study

Miss Minger's latest is up. (This is part 1.)

Wow.  Read the whole thing, I can't even summarize it, it's too incredible.

Update: After some thinking, a summary is in order.  Wheat is implicated in causing heart disease.  If these correlations are indicitive of a causal relationship, wheat is worse for your heart than almost any other item you ingest, including cigarettes.

I'm in the middle of reading Western Diseases: Their Emergence and Prevention right now, which is a pretty dry read, unless faecal transit time is a hobby of yours (in which case, God help you :) ).

However, if you read between the lines, you'll see exactly what Stephan Guyenet has discussed: wheat seems to leave a trail of devastation where ever it goes.  Unfortunately in that book wheat and veggie oils are never really discussed as causes of disease.  But I'll do a review when I finish it.
